BOE Failed to Deliver OLED displays as per Apple’s Quality Standard

As per reports, BOE, the Chinese manufacturer for displays in smartphones, has failed to deliver to Apple as per expectations. BOE is supplying displays for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12, which is scheduled for November release. BOE has reportedly failed to pass Apple’s stringent OLED tests, which resulted in failure to deliver.

This news came as a shocker, as BOE is the top producer for OLED displays in the world. It is undoubtedly an unusual sight for BOE after being a continuous supplier of displays to Apple iPads and Macbooks. BOE has been supplying the Liquid crystal displays to Apple from a few years. But, the report was not clear whether the issue would impact the iPhone 12 manufacture. There is also no mention of whether these quality defects have entered into the iPhone 12’s manufacturing.

As everyone knows, Apple is going to launch four variants of iPhone 12, which includes two pro versions. Apart from BOE, Samsung has an 80 per cent contribution towards the OLED display for the iPhone 12 this year.  LG, too, was one of the OLED suppliers for the upcoming iPhone 12. Since the launch of Apple X, Samsung has been supplying OLED displays to Apple.

LG and BOE were expected to manufacture displays for entry-level iPhone 12. Whereas, Samsung contributes to the premium branded flagship models of the iPhone 12. This latest news about BOE failing Apple’s quality standard might send some signals about the delay in the launch.

This might not be the official news, but already Apple is running late about the next-gen iPhone. COVID-19 has badly affected the product launch of Apple and many other giant companies. Recently, Apple has postponed its launch from September to November. Hopefully, this latest update about BOE display failure, should not push the launch further.
